Why must English be a mandatory subject in the Higher School Certificate? I speak the language well, with the exception of a slight speech impediment, and I’m generally capable of forming grammatically acceptable sentences, so why must I critically analyse three separate texts, focusing on a particular area of study?

LastMiso.fm
There needs to be a service that’s a cross between last.fm and gomiso.com, where you get badges for listening to music. LastMiso.fm, maybe? I know most people know what Last.fm is, but if you’re unfamiliar with gomiso.com, it’s a website that uses a similar “check in” feature to Foursquare, but rather than checking in to places you go to, you check in to the TV...

It has come to my attention that a significant amount of time has passed since I last used Tumblr. I may have to change that.

Rumor: Intel's Core i5 to show up in MacBook Pros... →
If they release this, I’m sure as hell going to get one. My current polycarbonate white MacBook is becoming sluggish and looks outdated next to my shiny, relatively new iMac.

Cubees
Well, boredom has set in, so I’ve been trying to find something to do. I got these from http://www.cubeecraft.com/ and they’re beginning to become an obsession. From left to right, the Cubees in the picture are; Vault Boy (from the Fallout series of games), Master Chief’s head (from Halo. I haven’t completed the body yet), Gir (from Invader Zim), Bender (from Futurama)...

Plushed iPhone App Review
Finally, after a long, excruciating wait, Plushed is now available in the iPhone App Store. In case you didn’t know, Plushed’s developer, Blacksmith Games, has created an Appvent Calendar, where iPhone games are available for free for one day, every day until Christmas. You can find that at http://www.appventcalendar.com/ Plushed is quickly becoming one of my favourite games for the...

VernX iPhone App Review
VernX is an elegant iPhone game that heavily relies on the use of the iPhone and iPod touch’s accelerometer. Its simple controls and design give it a somewhat oldschool feel. The idea of the app is that you have to use your device’s accelerometer to navigate your way through a maze. You begin with a group of red dots that move and bounce around when you tilt the device. You have to...

Magic Mouse
I just bought myself Apple’s new Magic Mouse. Not only because the Mighty Mouse was an epic fail on Apple’s part, but also because the damn scroll ball on my Mighty Mouse was shot to shit and only worked when it felt like it. And hey, I don’t want to hear you saying “just use a post-it note”, because I tried that, along with a lot of swearing and temper tantrums,...

Layers iPhone App Review
When you open the app, you get a gallery, in which you can view previous drawings and create new ones (by using the + at the top right). By creating a new drawing, you will open up the window that allows you to doodle. By default, there are 2 layers; one transparent (top layer), the other opaque white (bottom layer). See and download the full gallery on posterous The brush and eye dropper icons...

iTweetReply iPhone App Review
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet! iTweetReply (iTR) is a great, homegrown application made by three slightly-geekier-than- average Aussie teenagers. The premise of the app is to give you simple, fast Twitter push notifications.  iTweetReply started life as an emailing service developed by Matthew Lesh (@matthewlesh). Since the release of the iPhone app, this service has been...

PhotoScatter iPhone App Review
I’ve recently gotten into the realm of photo sharing (despite my lack of photography knowlege/skills and lack of a decent camera) and have found it fairly frustrating and awkward to share my photos with the various different sites I use. I mean, sure, there’s the email upload capabilities of some different sites, but getting that set up can be a real pain in the arse. PhotoScatter, an...

Jumping URL iPhone App Review
I recently received an email through my website’s “Contact Me” page, from an iPhone app developer, requesting that I review their new application, along with a promocode to download the application for free. Needless to say, I obseqiously did so.  GoNik! just recently released their new application “Jumping URL”. What the application allows you to do is...

Jaadu VNC iPhone App Review
You may have been scouring the app store and come across various different remote computing applications, such as Mocha VNC (VNC = Virtual Network Computing) and Remote Desktop. These applications allow you to remotely control a computer (generally on a local network) using your iPhone or iPod Touch. I’ve tried many of these applications and Jaadu VNC is by far the best, giving you an...

Convert ~ the unit calculator iPhone App Review
Convert is a new application, made by tap tap tap, that, as the name implies, converts various different units. The idea has been implemented many times before, most notably in Tapbots’ “Convertbot”, but tap tap tap (ttt) has created a very elegantly designed application that makes it quick and simple to convert many different units. You can scroll through all of the available...

Harbor Master iPhone App Review/Tutorial
Many of you may be familiar with Firemint’s “Flight Control”, a $1.19 application that has topped the paid applications list for weeks at a time. Well, if you enjoyed Flight Control, you’ll most likely enjoy Harbor Master, seeing as it’s a blatant rip-off. It should be called “Boat Control”. Despite the similarity in gameplay, I must admit that it is a...

Minigore iPhone App Review/Tutorial
You may have heard of Chillingo Ltd, a fairly well-known iPhone app developer, who’ve made more than 70 applications for the iPhone platform. Their latest app is a great little game called “Minigore”. If you’re a fan of iDracula, one of their best-selling iPhone apps, you’ll probably like this. The first thing you’ll notice when starting the game is the...

Self explanatory, really. But, I kinda like doing these text reviews. They’re easy to do and they don’t waste much bandwidth. Expect to see more of them in the coming weeks. Next up: Mingore, a game by Chillingo Ltd. Posted via email from POST1604 | Comment »

iStat iPhone App Review/Tutorial
You Mac users may have heard of iStat before. For those who haven’t, it’s a simple application that gives you details about your system, such as the temperature of your CPU or Hard Drive Capacity.  Slayer, Inc., who made the original iStat widgets, along with other apps, branched off into Bjango, a company who makes iPhone apps, and Bjango have created an iPhone version of iStat,...

A Belated iPhone Review
This iPhone is absolutely awesome. Although I got it more than a month ago, I haven’t really done a review. Now, though, I’ve had a whole month to play with most of the features, so here goes…   First of all, I’d like to point out the battery life. Today, I was using the phone pretty much non-stop, using various different features (including watching a full movie and...

Drowning in my Own Juices
Don’t you just love those days where you’re drowning in a puddle of used tissues and your own snot?  This damn cold has cost me my weekly footlong Sub and an action-packed weekend. I guess I’ll just be wrapped in my doona, watching movies all weekend, but hey, who can complain about being a vegetable, while watching your favourite movies? Posted via email from...

School's Out!
Finally, after a long, boring day at school and my 2nd and 3rd shower for the day, the school holidays are finally here. Now for some relaxation time and to watch some 111HITS. I might as well get the most out of it before the Will and Grace marathon start, seeing as I hate that show with a passion.   Anyway, my holidays are most likely going to involve massive marathons of Scrubs and some recent...

Well That Was a Waste of Money
I recently bought myself an iFrogz Crystal case for my iPhone 3GS and when I received it, I was ecstatic that I finally had something to protect my precious iPhone… Until today. I wanted to take the case off to get some gunk out of it, but to my surprise, the damn thing wouldn’t come off. Anyone else have a similar issue? If so, did you fix it? Posted via email from...
