There needs to be a service that’s a cross between last.fm and gomiso.com, where you get badges for listening to music. LastMiso.fm, maybe?
I know most people know what Last.fm is, but if you’re unfamiliar with gomiso.com, it’s a website that uses a similar “check in” feature to Foursquare, but rather than checking in to places you go to, you check in to the TV shows and movies you’re watching. Again, similar to Foursquare, you receive points and badges for doing certain things (e.g. checking in to certain programs or genres a number of times).
Now, I know my Last.fm account hasn’t seen much activity lately, but that’s mostly because I see no point to scrobbling every song I listen to. This is why LastMiso.fm needs to exist. If I could gain points, badges, discount codes, etc. by checking in to music I was listening to, there’d be a reason for me to share the music I’m listening to.
Hell, Ping could even become this service. It’s got the potential: you can already follow the artists and people you’re interested in, similar to Miso, and you can share the music you like and what you’ve purchased. All it really needs is the ability to share what music you’re actually listening to and the addition of the points/badges.
Call me crazy, but I think it’d be a great service to add to your list of ways of telling the world about every moment of your life.
